What’s in a name, Creative Wonderland? Why Creative Wonderland? And I could throw in the full quote from Shakespeare and start a fascinating discussion about the usefulness of a name, but that would take us too far. In short, our brainchild had to have a name (always handy right?), and preferably one with meaning, one that sticks around for a long time, clear yet somewhat fuzzy. And so how we ended up with Creative Wonderland, you’ll find out here.

Alice in Wonderland

We’ll get right to the point: we are indeed referring with our name to the wonderful book “Alice in Wonderland” by Lewis Carroll. Tons of childhood sentiment! This was the book my great aunt always read to us when we stayed with her. I have always had a strong tendency to play with fantasy and imagination, so this book hit the nail on the head. The booklet was given to me by her several years ago, and is now in my bookcase. Alongside a beautifully designed double edition “Alice in Wonderland” and “Alice in Spiegelland.” I even recently read the book “Versplintered,” written by A.G. Howard, about the “real Wonderland”! I highly recommend….

INFP

At the time we were shaping our space, I was having a “little” identity crisis / midlife crisis. Realizing after 15 years in finance that this is not really your thing does something to a person. And then you go back to the basics, the core. In my case: diving into personality tests and whatnot. And of course then you come across the ever-popular MBTI, the Myers-Briggs Type Indicators. And turns out I am an INFP. After countless google searches, I come across some references to Alice In Wonderland.

Alice herself is said to be an INFP, as is the writer Lewis Carroll himself. The INFP is even called the Wonderland type, according to some. INFPs are notorious daydreamers, sometimes inventing whole new worlds just to escape the day-to-day reality.

Now I do believe that no one can be pigeonholed into one particular hole, but the spark was there. Combine that with my sentimental childhood memories, and part of our name was born.

Creativity

Other than the fact that the name Wonderland already existed (important to check!), we wanted the core of our space to be more evident in the name. And after a lot of playing around with different words and adjectives, we finally landed on Creative Wonderland. Because the entire space was born out of a desire for more creativity. The design itself breathes creativity. And without creativity, there is no innovation, no growth, no progress. Creative Wonderland was born!
